It’s Saturday already?!
Whoa. Where did my week go?! Oh yes, that was it, somewhere in the week we took off and left the country.
Whew. That explains…well A LOT! Plus I feel a little less insane, which is generally a good thing. Generally. Except in really awkward circumstances where being insane is probably the better alternative. I dunno, I can’t think of any such time right now, but I am almost positive it exists.
At any rate, here we are another Saturday and well, another FYI post for all you lovely people! After all, what’s a Saturday without some useless information for you to not process? I know. Flowers are not necessary to thank me, but I won’t refuse chocolate, ya know FYI *wink wink*
So FYI….
In Scotland it is illegal to be a drunk in possession of a cow. What is the law to dictate what I can and cannot do with my cow in Scotland eh? I mean if I want to party with my cow while I’m there I should be allowed to! It’s a free world isn’t it?! So what I can get drunk with my pig instead? Not the same…it’s just NOT the same thing. Pigs make awful drunken companions, cows are much better. It’s just weird. Weird that somewhere in history there was a need for this law. I think me and my cow are headed to Ireland instead. I’m sure they don’t care if we wanna get drunk and sing karaoke until 3am.
Smokey the Bear’s zip code is 20252. He was given this zip code in April 1964, but I can’t find his actual address. I don’t even get the point of the zip code, but there ya go. So when I looked up his zip code, it’s not found. Like the postal service in the USA denies this zip code exists. They want you to believe that Smokey is NOT A REAL BEAR, but I know better, that hunky fireman wasn’t lying to me! He relayed valuable life saving information direct from Smokey himself! I’m pretty much re-living some major childhood traumas now, thanks a lot US Postal service. Now I can’t send letters to Smokey OR Santa Claus. You’re ruining my life.
The tune for the “A-B-C” song is the same as “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” So now, all day, you are gonna hate my guts. Because right now, you HAD to sing this in your head in order to see if it’s true. And it is. And somehow you missed putting these two songs together for the same tune, cos if you hear that tune you just say ”ahh yes that’s Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” not ”ABC”. So all day you are going to be hearing these songs in your head and hating my guts. Just remember I love you….and it’ll be alriiiii-ght! *smirk* If you did however put these two things together long before reading this, well I do hope you have those songs stuck in your head all day anyway. Because you knowing more than me doesn’t work for me, at all. *glare*
Tablecloths were originally meant to be served as towels with which dinner guests could wipe their hands and faces after eating. I so dare you to try this at your next dinner party. Just eat and take the table cloth and wipe your face and hands all over it and watch the reaction. Oh wouldn’t you just love to try? I’m pretty sure you won’t be invited back, especially if it’s a white table cloth. Oooh it hurts me just to think about it! On the other hand if the food sucks and you don’t care about an invite again, do it. You’ll never have to invent another excuse again.
Dolphins sleep with one eye open. You see, those sweet innocent lovely dolphins are secretly, mistrustful suspicious bastards! I knew it, it’s all an act. Those little jerks don’t even have crap to steal. I don’t like dolphins anymore, not if I don’t stand a chance of sneaking up on one while it’s sleeping. It’s an unfair advantage! On the more scientific side however, apparently they do this because they only let half of their brain sleep at a time, which leaves the other half to look out for danger and get to the surface to breathe when they need air. So basically, dolphins are paranoid, mistrustful, insomniacs. Because I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t be getting much sleep with half my brain doing all that. It’s bad enough having to wake up to elbow my other half to check the noise I just heard downstairs in case a mass murderer just snuck in. I either suck at listening out for danger, or I’ve warded off a hell of a lot of mass murderers. It’s my ego, you guess which it is. Dolphins should just get lessons from me and make life easier.
Whatever your weekend brings, I certainly hope it doesn’t involve getting drunk with your cow in Scotland. Because that would be a total bummer to find out it’s illegal after the fact. Although you and your cow can always look back and see the funny side of how you got arrested partying. Good times, good times.
And if you’re staying in well, I just hope you didn’t have your heart set on sending Smokey the Bear that love letter like I did. Because although he has his own zip code, the US Postal service is totally denying he exists. Well then US Postal service, who’s this poster of huh?! Answer me that!!!

Oh, they know I’m right. It’s just a conspiracy to cover up some top secret government screw up. I’ll get down to the bottom of this so help me.
This is quite a list of trivia you have here but I especially thank you for the warning about the Scotland law! I also think that use for tablecloths makes sense.

Hilarious! I know exactly what you mean about stereotypes. Once I was touring the Pantheon in Paris and there was this group of women who were just shrieking, they were so loud. And it was so embarrassing, because it was obvious they were American, and I was like, ugh, the stereotype is true, we are obnoxious!
Do me a favor. Sing Baa Baa Black Sheep in your head. Ask me how I made the connection between all 3 of those songs. I have 2 kids who NEVER tire of any of those songs. No wonder since they are the SAME SONG.
