I’d like a logo to go please
You know what I need? A logo. I need a logo like Victoria Beckham needs a doughnut. (seriously have you seen how skinny she is?! It’s making me look bad….)
The current font I have used for And then there was me…. up at the top is now driving me crazy. Don’t get me wrong, I love the font itself - I love the whole ink on paper look which goes with the rest of the blog, blah blah. But I also know it was my cheap ass way of trying to get a logo for nothing. Except I totally failed at it and don’t really have a logo at all but more of a font thing, which isn’t quite what I wanted.
So hence, I’m of course losing sleep and being driven to the edge of insanity by the second.
I decided I was going to be smart and download the trial version of Photoshop, cos there is no way I can justify the cost the program itself, it’s like a million quid. Now let me just clarify, I’m really computer savvy and I can pretty much learn my way around most stuff, or at least google and fake it so, it’s not like I can’t do this. But I have to say that Photoshop hates me and pretty much makes all the buttons I want to use not work since it’s just a trial. Either that or I’ve been time warped to a point in the future where suddenly computer programs are super complicated. Except that I can still check my email and post on the blog so that sorta blows that theory out. But the lesson we’ve all gathered here:
I cannot learn Photoshop without all the awesome buttons in 30 days – Adobe hates me
I know I could probably go and download it for free off some pirates-r-us website and get a free Pirate with every new download, but honestly I have no idea what I’d do with a free Pirate. Unless he cleaned, in which case, I’ll consider it. So now I’m stuck with no real logo or at least one that drives me nuts, so I have no idea what I’m going to do next. I thought about putting it on the list of ”Baby things” so as to fool my other half with a list of expenses we still have to pay out. I’m not sure whether or not he’ll notice…
- Vests
- Blankets
- Diapers
- A really cool logo for my blog
- Baby swing
I’ll have to slip it in and see what reaction I get. Especially when I go to explain why this is necessary and he starts to convince me that he has so much faith in my computer abilities that why don’t I just make one myself. Then I’ll have to go through the whole Photoshop trauma again and probably cry until he moves onto the but your blog looks great honey argument. Which is a really strategic move on his part, showing support and saving us money. Damn him for being sensible, it’s ruining my image.
I’ll just have to keep searching to find a solution or continue to swear at Photoshop until it gives up and lets me use the Grown-Up buttons. So far, I’ve just lost my voice and it crashed on me twice, so it’s pretty much winning this fight. Adobe bastards.
Wish me luck, I think I’m gonna need it.
***UPDATE***
The old handwritten font is gone and I’m test driving a new logo up top. Might be tweaked until I get it right but, any feedback appreciated!

i downloaded the trial for photoshop once and, well, it definitely wasn’t a success. i was making a bday invitef for my daughters first bday and it was totally sub par. oh well. i did what i could in the 30 days…it really is sooo expensive!

Have you thought about Photoshop Elements? Much cheaper and has most of the funky stuffs from the pricey version.
Hi Mesina,
You should check out Serif Software. They’re a UK company that makes cheaper versions of the big programs. I’ve used their photoplus program for years rather than photoshop and I’ve been very happy with it. Just google “free serif software” and you can get a free downloadable copy of an earlier version than the latest one. They may even have a logo specific program. (even if you bought the latest one it’s only like $30.00)

Hey there. I love doing logos and blog design. Check out my blogs. I custom did those, including all my buttons. I used to run a save the date magnet business that was all graphic work. Don’t tell my secret but I’ve done it all without Photoshop. I don’t mind whipping you up some free, cuz that’s the best price right. I don’t also mind showing you my secret tricks! Email me if you are interested!

Thanks to everyone who’s given out some ideas and things for me to consider! (Brent, Will be looking into that program for future, cheers!)
Tickled Pink, I checked out your blog, looks great! Thanks so much for the offer, but I’ve actually just sorted the logo for the blog (The new And then there was me header is new, was a icky font one before) finally getting my head around the Photoshop trial (and some digging in my blog theme!). I so appreciate it and may email you for tips in future if I get stuck!
I agree. You should get a new, improved logo. Photoshop is not known for being user-friendly. Lemme know what you think of Photoshop Elements.

Cafe, I’d love to get my hands on Elements! It’s my next stop I think. However I did do a new, improved logo! (see update at the end of this post) however with everyone still offering help I wonder if it’s any good! haha!! I’m not offended in the slightest. But, I like it I think! (if anyone recalls the old pen-like font?)
Winning is the best. Your blog layout is fabulous! Stopping by from SITS.
